1. How did Colonel Sanders succeed in his business? 

Colonel Sanders at the age 65, prepared a recipe and went out selling. He had knocked on more than thousand doors before he got his first order. Later his recipe became popular. He founded KFC restaurant.

 

2. Who created Micky Mouse? How was he inspired to create it? 

Walt Disney created the Micky Mouse character. He was hired to draw some cartoons at a church. He was working out of a small mouse infested shed near the church. After seeing a small mouse, he was inspired and created Micky Mouse.

 

3. Who was Tommy? What problems did he face in his childhood? 

Tommy was the pet name of the great scientist Thomas Edison. He was partially deaf. He was pushed out of the school by his teachers. He had only three months of formal schooling.

 

4. How do setbacks help us? How can we overcome a setback? 

A setback can act as a driving force and also teach us humility. In grief we will find courage and faith to overcome the setback. We learn to become victors, not victims.

 

5. What is the secret of success according to Socrates? 

According to Socrates, burning desire is the secret of success. We need to strive as hard as we could to get the success. When we want success as badly as we wanted the air, then we will get it.

 

6. "Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe the mind can achieve." Do you support this statement? Why or why not? 

Yes, I support the statement that whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve. Every thing lies in the state of our mind. If we feel we can do something, it can be done. If we think we can’t then nothing can be done.

7. What was the dream of Murthy the bright boys? How did they prepare? 

The dream of the bright boys was to study at the Indian Institutes of Technology. They used to sit below the shade of a stone mandap close to Chamundi Hills in the sleepy town of Mysore and prepare for the IIT entrance test.

 

8. How can you say that Murthy’s principle was never to hurt anyone? 

Murthy’s principle was never to hurt others. For instance, in case of food, when it was bad he used to say ‘OK’. When it was OK, he used to say 'good'. When it was good, He used to say 'excellent'.

 

9. Why did Murthy’s father refuse to send him to IIT? 

Murthy’s financial position was not good. He had five daughters to be married off and three sons to educate. He was just a salaried person. He couldn’t meet the expenses. So, he refused to send Murthy to IIT.

 

10. Who was the teenager? Why was he disappointed? 

The teenager was Narayana Murthy. His dream was to study in IIT. He got high rank in IIT. But his father refused to send him to IIT. So, Murthy was disappointed.

 

11. How can you say that Murthy was an introvert by nature? 

Murthy never shared his helplessness or unhappiness with anybody. Though he was sad, he never got angry with anybody. Hence, he was an introvert by nature.

 

12. Why do you think his classmates were excited? 

Murthy’s classmates got seats in IIT. Their dream of studying in IIT was fulfilled. They were going to Madras to join in IIT. Hence, they were excited.
