PART A ANSWERS
Q.NO 1 TO 4 READING COMPREHENSION FROM READING A (4 X 3 =12 MARKS)
1. How would you respond if you were in
the narrator's position?
If I were in the narrator's position, I would likely be overwhelmed with fear
and anxiety, just as he was. The presence of a snake so close would make me freeze,
focusing only on staying as still as possible, hoping it would slither away
without harming me.
2. When the narrator says, "Death
lurked four inches away," what thoughts might have flashed through their
mind at that moment?
At that moment, the narrator likely thought about the imminent danger and the
slim chance of survival if the snake decided to strike. Thoughts about life,
death, and the absence of any escape or cure in such a perilous situation may
have crossed his mind.
3. What prompted the narrator to smile
faintly at himself?
The narrator smiled faintly at himself upon realizing the irony of his
situation. He considered himself a doctor but felt helpless and foolish for not
being prepared or having any medicine to counteract a potential snakebite,
emphasizing his vulnerability.
4. The narrator describes himself as "a poor,
foolish, and stupid doctor." Do you agree with his self-assessment? Why or
why not?
I do not fully agree with the narrator’s self-assessment. While he might feel
foolish for not being prepared, his reaction is very human in a
life-threatening situation. His profession or lack of preparation does not
define his intelligence; it simply shows that fear can make anyone feel
vulnerable and powerless.

Q.NO 5 TO 8 READING COMPREHENSION FROM READING B&C (4 X 3 =12 MARKS)
5. How would school-going children be affected if their
exercise time were taken away?
If school-going children’s exercise
time were taken away, they might face health issues like obesity due to a lack
of physical activity. Reduced exercise could also lead to lower energy levels,
impacting their mental focus and overall well-being.
6. How does a limited amount of homework benefit every
child in terms of academic preparation? Justify your answer.
A limited amount of homework benefits
children by providing enough time for rest, recreation, and exercise, leading
to better focus and motivation. This balance allows them to complete
assignments effectively while staying healthy, helping them perform better
academically and maintain their mental and physical well-being.
7. In your opinion, what is the purpose of homework? Does
it reinforce your learning at school?
The purpose of homework is to reinforce
and deepen understanding of the concepts taught in school by practicing them
independently. It can solidify learning if given in reasonable amounts, as it
encourages students to review material and solve problems on their own.
8. What reasons, according to the passage, suggest
that an excessive amount of homework has become a burden for school-going
children?
The passage suggests that excessive homework is a burden
because it often forces students to stay up late or wake up early, depriving
them of sleep. This lack of rest leaves little time for exercise, contributing
to obesity and other health problems, and impacts their overall mental and
physical well-being.
