will?
Abel Merryweather decided to alter his will. He wanted to
leave all his bits of things to whoever he would live with when he had died.
2. What do you say about the attitude of Amelia and
Elizabeth towards Abel Merryweather?
Amelia and Elizabeth never took care of their father. They
neglected him. They started dividing things between them thinking that the old
man was dead. They tried to steal his things. They wanted to put him up for the
sake of money.
3. If you were in place of Abel Merryweather, to whom would
you give your property? Why?
If I were in place of Abel Merryweather, I would also give
my property to those who look after me very well. If none took care of me, then
I would donate the property to an orphanage.
4. What were the three things that Abel Merryweather planned
to do on the next Monday?
On Monday, the father wanted to do three things. He wanted
to go to the lawyer and alter his will; he would go to the insurance office and
pay his premium and he would go to St Philip’s Church and get married.
5. Why did Abel decide to marry?
Abel was disgusted with the attitude of his daughters
towards him. They didn’t take care of him. They felt him as a burden to them.
Abel found someone who felt pleasant to look after him. So, he decided to marry
again.
6. Do you support the decision of Abel to get married again?
Give reasons for your answer.
Yes, I support the decision of Abel to get married again. He
was disgusted with the attitude of his daughters. He needed someone to look
after him in his old age. So there was nothing wrong in marrying again.

did he want to do?
When the storm began, the potter remembered that he had tied
the donkey under a tree outside his hut. He wanted to take the donkey into the
stable.
8. What made the potter angry?
The potter’s donkey ran away into the forest. This made him
angry. He went into the forest to search for it. He often stumbled over roots
and fallen branches. With each step the potter felt angrier and angrier with
his donkey.
9. Why couldn’t the potter notice the difference between the
donkey and the tiger?
The potter was drunk. It was raining heavily. Moreover, it
was dark. So he did not notice the difference between the donkey and a tiger.
10. Why did the king gather a large army?
A war broke out between the potter's country and the neighbor.
The neighbor’s country was very strong. So, the king immediately gathered a
large army to fight with the enemy.
11. Why did the king send the messengers to the potter’s
house?
The king realized that his army was not strong enough to
defeat the neighboring country. He needed a hero to lead his army. One of his
ministers suggested to the king that the brave potter could lead the army. So
the king sent the messengers to the potter’s house.
12. 'He has only brought us trouble.' Who had brought them
trouble? How?
The donkey had brought trouble to the potter. Had it not run
into the forest, he would have not brought the tiger and tied it to the tree.
He would have not been considered brave. He would have not been made the
General of the Army.
